20th Annual Fish & Chips ride to Hastings
Please email if you would like to be one of the SIX people on this Social Distancing rideout.
Meet at Cobham M25 services at 10.45 for 11.00 sharp departure, then to a second meet up at about 11.30 at the Felbridge Hotel, London Road, East Grinstead, RH19 2BH, then on to Shaw H-D arriving for a comfort break about 12.30 and for retail therapy, tea, coffee etc.
Feel free to head home from Shaw's or carry on with our ride to Hastings, where you can enjoy the delicious shellfish, fish and chips and a walk on the new award winning pier.
We will avoid main highways wherever possible to get the best views of the countryside.
Our return trip will depend on the weather - if fine we'll take a country route through hop fields stopping for a pint, if wet we'll take a shorter, quicker route home.
Sadly Bill who has lead this ride since 2000 is not up to it this year as he is still recovering from an ankle injury. We wish him well and the ride will go ahead, temporarily under new management, hoping Bill will resume normal duties in 2021.
Stop Press: We can now meet up at the start in multiple groups of up to 6 people the groups being at least 2 metres apart.
No need to pre-register as we are unlikely to exceed 30 which is the maximum limit.
Those in a group (but not in a bubble together) must still stay at least 1 metre apart outside or 2 metres apart indoors, (this can be reduced to 1 metre indoors by wearing a mask).
Once a group is formed people must stay in the same group all day - and not mingle into other groups.
When we ride behind a leader in a procession using drop offs etc we ride as individuals (or two up with a pillion) and are not restricted to 6 people.
Whenever we dismount at stops or the finish and form a group for social purposes this can only be with the same people that were in the group in which we started.
The ride leader must keep a list of the participants names for 21 days, (just in case for NHS Test and Trace).
