Dawn to Dusk Challenge 2022
This trip is not yet available for booking
This our 2nd D2D Challenge will be a bit of a physical and mental challenge. We will be up early to see the sunrise over the sea at the eastern most point of England at Lowestoft in Suffolk and then ride to see the sunset the same day in the tiny City of St Davids - Wales's western most point.
Depending on traffic conditions the day’s journey will be about 400 miles, around 8 hours saddle time depending on the weather and traffic conditions plus time spent for stops. We will be travelling light on luggage and up to the maximum speed limit when conditions allow so if you don’t like quick progressive riding then this trip probably won’t suit you. Perhaps best ridden solo but adventurous pillions will be welcome. To help us make good progress there is a limit of 7 rooms.
We will travel to Lowestoft during the day on Saturday 23 April at an easy pace. We’ll stay at the Premier Inn, NR32 4AA about £60 Double Room, close to our starting point. If you wish you could travel up to join us later on the Saturday evening. After a local dinner it will be pretty early to bed as we’ll be up early to see the sun rise over the North Sea at 05.36hrs.
The ride to Wales will follow Morotway and A Class roads. We will have plenty of time to stop en route for breakfast, coffee, lunch, tea, and take in other snacks at various petrol and comfort stops. We will also carry water and snacks just in case we feel the need. I expect to ride no longer than 75/90 minutes without a break of some sort and to arrive by 6.00pm.
We'll stay at the City Inn for two nights B&B totalling £120 - £190 depending on occupancy. We'll finish with a celebratory dinner and see the sunset at 20.33 hrs before retiring to the Bar and eventually to our rooms for a well earned sleep.
On the Monday we'll have a day of easy riding and sightseeing in the local area. On Tuesday 25th May after another good breakfast we’ll ride the 220 miles to finish at the M4 Reading Services.
