For Operation Loyton the SAS were parachuted behind the enemy lines into occupied France in Autumn 1944.

As one of my Battlefields Series 81 years on we will be visiting the area and participating in the official memorial activities in the village of Moussey on 6 September to remember the 34 SAS, 140 local people and 3 members of the SOE executed by the Nazis.

Using LeShuttle on Tuesday 2 September at 11.50 from Folkestone arriving Calais at 13.25 for around £120 return. It's then 170 miles to an overnight stop in Reims where a budget hotel B&B will cost 75 Euros. Then its 180 miles to 88210 Moussey, France, (just south of Nancy).  Four nights B&B in our hotel near Moussey will cost about 650 Euros.

Riding on the lovely roads of the Alsace region we shall also visit several important WWII sites in the area including the European Centre of Deported Resistance Members and the Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial‎.

Our return will be overnight in Reims and then on Monday 8 September we'll catch the 14.20 Eurotunnel arriving UK at 13.55.

Deposits to SCUK will not be required. However, if visits require a financial commitment you may be asked to transfer some money directly to the organiser. Depending on the number of participants you may be responsible for making your own bookings once you are told which is the designated hotels. If you travel by car you may not always be able to follow the motorcycles.

Please let me know if you are interested in coming along.
