SAS Moussey Memorial at the NMA (30 April - 2/3 May 2026)
Following our 2025 trip to the SAS Graves and Memorials services in Moussey, France the whole Chapter has been invited to attend the inaugoration of the Lorriane Cross at the Phantom Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire. The cross is a memorial to the SAS Soldiers and 170 villagers who supported the SAS who were all taken away by the Nazis - never to be seen again.
The service is an 12.00 on Friday 1 May at the NMA. We'll also visit Lichfield cathedral where there will be a display of the second part of the Longest Yarn a new 80 metre work of knitted scenes based around VE Day in 1945.
We'll meet at the M40 Beaconsfield Services and take a mixture of Motorway, A and B roads on an easy paced ride on nice roads to Lichfield.
We will stay at the George Hotel, a Best Western Hotel, about £120 per night for a double WITHOUT breakfasts. There is a Premier Inn nearby should the George be full.
You can make your own way home on the Saturday or stay an extra night and I'll lead a day's rideout in the local area.
I expect breakfasts to be in the local Wetherspoons which is a short walk from the hotel. Dinners will also be taken in the town. On Fridays and Saturdays there is a lovely market in Lichfield.
Please book the hotel yourselves and then let me know you are coming along.
