We hope that you will join us for a fascinating and relaxing trip to the beautiful town of Ironbridge nestled in the Shropshire Hills. We will be staying at a charming country hotel with a wide terrace and gardens leading onto the banks of the River Severn. There is ample parking, a spacious bar and the restaurant is excellent with a varied seasonal menu. The hotel is conveniently situated, only a 10 minute stroll of the town, the famous iron bridge and other attractions.
Day one: The leisurely route will take in some fantastic riding roads that will pass through the scenic Berkshire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire countryside, stopping for lunch after approximately 2 hours before arriving at the hotel around 3.30 pm, giving ample time to settle in before dinner.
Day Two: After breakfast we will visit Blists Hill Victorian Town Museum, which is only 3.8 miles. It is a fascinating living museum reconstructed from period buildings and has a variety of shops, school, café and a fish & chip shop, all that only take “old money”, which you obtain from the bank on entry. In keeping with the areas heritage there is even a working foundry. The afternoon will be at leisure to explore the other local museums or do as you please.
Day Three: This will be an easy kind of day, with a ride out to explore some of the pretty medieval villages on our way to Ludlow, with its castle and picturesque town centre.
Day Four: after breakfast, we will check out and leave for the ride back to Surrey, again following the A & B roads. For those that need to get a wiggle on and prefer to take the motorways, are welcome to make their own way.
The hotel is already filling up and I have managed to reserved six double rooms with ensuite on a B&B basis. Should you wish to come please let me know and call the hotel directly on 01952 432247 to book your room, stating that they are held under the name of Owen Miles.
We do hope that you will join us.
